How to de-stress at work !

We live in a very stressful world and work place stress specifically can be very overwhelming and can easily make you lose focus and result in low performance. We all have our own way to  relax after work by going out with friends or watching a movie ..etc  , but why wait until after you leave the office to de-stress?

Most of us spend 8 hours at least in the office so I believe  we should create for ourselves a nice atmosphere to help us become more productive and  bear those long working hours. We can defiantly eliminate work stress using very simple methods to feel more relaxed, recharged, and motivated to meet deadlines and finish more tasks.

After working for a number of years I found some really simple but joyful tips that made me feel more relaxed and happy in my office regardless of the workload. I hope these tips can help you de-stress and feel more motivated as much as it helped me :

1- identifying your stress triggers

In order to effectively manage your stress, you need to find out what triggered these feelings! write it down then think of possible solutions , for example , If you are always nervous about presentations, consider taking a class on public speaking & presentation skills , this  will make you feel more in control and help overcoming those challenging situation instead of escaping from it.

2- To – do lists & Prioritizing effectively

Creating to-lists and prioritizing will help you to manage your tasks and track how you are progressing effectively .

I recommend investing in a nice notebook or planner and at the beginning of each day write on it what you want to get done and by when. Rank tasks according to importance or urgency to plan your day and focus your mind.

3-   Aromatherapy

This is by far my favorite stress relief technique. It has been scientifically proven that Aromatherapy triggers a positive emotional and physical response by stimulating the emotional & hormonal systems. For example, when you smell Lavender essential oil, it will immediately calm your nervous system and relax your muscles. Personally i keep a diffuser in my office and i usually use lavender, peppermint, and sandalwood essential oils to refresh my mind and relax. Believe me it works wonders!

4- Relaxing Music

Personally I love to listen to relaxing music and nature sounds to calm my self and reduce tension. A combination of a soothing music and aromatherapy works like magic for me , it immediately lifts my mood and make me feel peaceful.

5-  Personalizing office space

Adding your own personal touch to the office can make you feel more in control of your working environment and will defiantly make you happier and more attached . Bring your own stuff like family photos , meaningful pieces and some flowers or low maintenance plants which will have a great effect on reducing stress levels as nature has a great effect on the mental health and has proven to increase work performance.

6- Exercise

we all know that working out helps reducing stress and gives you a healthy body and mind. Use part of your lunch break to take a walk outside , stretch , try some breathing exercises, or practice some yoga ( my absolute favorite). This will defiantly boost your mood and let you make the most of your time.

I hope you find these tips helpful and enjoy a stress-free, successful workdays.
